The Queen’s Green Canopy Reception
September 23, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

A reception for Eastbourne’s Education Leaders and their pupils with
Sir Tim Smit from The Eden Project and
Beat the Street’s Dr William Bird MBE.
2022 is a momentous year for Eastbourne, one where each educational establishment in Eastbourne can play a critical and creative role in shaping the town’s future.
Sir Tim Smit from The Eden Project and Beat the Street’s Dr William Bird are keen to meet and hear suggestions for how they and others can build on the great work of Eastbourne schools in encouraging the young to interact with the natural environment.
2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign. In this time the town’s population has doubled. No longer just a town for visitors, Eastbourne is a location that many young people have chosen to settle in and build their lives.
At the reception on the 23rd September Dr Bird will share new research findings on the impact limited physical activity has on the developing brain, which is why encouraging the act of walking for pleasure is so important to support the cognitive development of a child.
In conjunction with this, the Eden Project is helping the town create an avenue of ecologies stretching from Butts Brow to Black Robin Farm, as the town’s principal contribution to The Queen’s Green Canopy project.
By invitation only from
Lord R.Lucas
Chair, The Queen’s Green Canopy Project, Eastbourne.
