Poetry SLAM!
March 15, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Seaford Head will be holding the first Multilingual Poetry Slam workshop where KS4/5 students from Sussex schools are invited to write poetry in English and other languages. The students will work with French Teacher and Spoken Word Artist Michaël Vidon (French / English) as well as Poet and a PhD student Keith Jarrett (Spanish/French) to create group and individual poems that they will be invited to perform at the Komedia (Brighton) on the 5th of April during the Easter holidays in a Poetry Slam.
A Poetry Slam is a competitive event (think X factor but without the mean judges) where poets are judged on their skills as writers as well as performers. The winners of the slam will be invited to perform during the renowned Hammer and Tongue Poetry Slam later that evening alongside national and international professional poets.
This year’s theme is “The World Outside” leaving a lot of freedom for students to explore their experiences and feelings towards others. Students are free to interpret the theme as they wish: the world outside could be outside their window, their friendship group, their town or their country!
