Following the success of our first Art on the Line project launched in 2015, the Eastbourne Station banners have been updated this week to represent the growing amount of schools from the Eastbourne Schools Partnership.
Art on the Line and Southern Rail are proud to support this exciting project and to display the high calibre artwork that is produced by the students involved from the following schools, Bexhill Academy, Cavendish School, Eastbourne College, Ratton Academy Trust, St Richard’s Catholic College, St Catherine’s College and Willingdon Community School.
Art on the Line is an award winning initiative designed to enhance the commuting experience with artwork, illustrations, photography, poetry and literature by artists in the community. Working with Southern Rail, Art on the Line also provides a much needed platform for emerging talent to showcase their work.
Each of the participating schools has a double-sided banner, showcasing their students’ artistic talents. All the artwork used to produce the banner displays in the concourse is part of a vast collection of outstanding work produced by students of varying ages from all the above Schools and Colleges based on the theme of ‘Faces and Places’.
The continuation of this project was supported by Peter Marchant, Chair of the ESP, who visited Eastbourne Station to view the work on display. “It is wonderful that so many people from our community are willing to work together with such enthusiasm to produce opportunities like this for the youth of our town. Art on the Line is an inspiring idea and the benefits will impact on everyone who visits or lives in Eastbourne.”
Special thanks must go to Katie Richards, Eastbourne Station Manager, Custard Design for printing the art work and all the art teachers, headmasters and school liaison’s for making this project possible and congratulations to all the student’s whose work has been displayed.
